My father is a well known physician.
I was born and breed in the pathway of a physician like himself
Toys brought while i was young were stethoscopes, plastic injections and white laboratory coats
I grew up noticing the movement of the sphygmomanometer
Are all these inclined towards making a complete physician out of me?
I was enrolled into the staff school to ensure that all i would be impacted with would be medicine and medicine alone.
So that all I could see were medically and health inclined.
All that could store in my tabula razad mind was medicine.
Are all these inclined towards making a complete physician out of me?
When It was time to choose the path of life,
My drive for medicine and parental influence engrossed and got me ensued into the science class
I exerted all my efforts to be outstanding in physics, chemistry and biology
My parents, school and siblings were so proud of me for outstanding excellence
But, Are all these inclined towards making a complete physician out of me?
Through hardwork and discipline, i met all the requirements for admission to study the much desired course, Medicine.
Saw the bulk of books to read just to be a doctor
Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, chemical pathology and the rest, came hunting me
Not neglecting the tensed competition all around.
I had to strive to survive.
Because it was the survival of the fittest.
Are all these inclined towards making a complete physician out of me?
In medical school, I worked intensely
with intelligence, brilliance, passion, determination and zeal
Finally swore the physician oath.
I began to see myself as a superior being because of the acquired hyper-knowledge
I saw patients as new cases for study and learning, and not as men like myself.
What an all round physician I am!
Nevertheless,
I have found the path of a great, complete and all round physician.
I have identified my purpose and reason for existence
I have discovered the humanitarian call
I have come into the limelight of being called to be proficient in caring for the body but not at the detriment of caring for the soul and spirit.
And this is my mandate as an all round physician behind the white coat:
That God made man SPIRIT, SOUL and BODY and hath made me a physician to be proficient in caring for the WHOLE MAN.
Seeing patients as living souls(with compassion) and not just as mere cases.
