El Hijo del Perro Aguayo: Wrestler dies in ring as fight carries on around him

The 35-year-old suffered a fatal injury after
appearing to hit his neck on the ropes following a
dropkick.
The Mexican wrestler tragically died in the ring
following a stunt - but the fight carried on around
him.
El Hijo del Perro Aguayo, 35, is believed to have
died almost instantly after suffering a fatal neck
injury when his head hit the ring ropes during a tag
team bout in Tijuana on Friday night.
The incident seemed innocuous and fellow wrestlers
Rey Mysterio Jnr, Manik and Xtreme Tiger,
continued to fight - unaware their colleague was
unconscious and unresponsive.
It took several minutes before a member of staff
realised the severity of what happened and alerted
medics.

And only then was Aguayo Jnr - the son of
wrestling legend Perro Aguayo - removed from the
arena on a piece of plywood.
Organisers - who have been criticised for their
handling of the tragedy - did not have a stretcher
because it was being used to treat another wrestler
with a spinal injury.
Doctors battled in vain to revive Aguayo, whose full
name was Pedro Aguayo Ramirez, but he was
declared dead an hour later.
It is believed he suffered a fatal whiplash injury to
his neck following a boxkick from former WWE star
Rey Myserio Jnr.
Lucha Libre, the Mexican wrestling organisation,
tweeted the news this morning with a message
which read: "Grief overwhelms our hearts once
again.
"Rest in peace, Son of Perro Aguayo."
