Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi close in on Raul's Champions League scoring record

As the Real Madrid and Barcelona superstars continue to
close in on Raul's European record, Telegraph Sport looks
at how far they have to go to beat the Spaniard's
Champions League tally
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have long rivalled each
other for the tag of "best player in the world". While that
term is subjective, the matter of who scores more goals is
unequivocal.
Both players have amazing records in front of goal and this
season's Champions League has brought added spice with
the duo racing to break Raul's European scoring tally.
Former Real Madrid star Raul notched up 71 goals in 142
games, but the two current stars of world football are hot
on his heels. Messi's goal in Barcelona's 2-3 defeat at
Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night means the
Argentine now has 68 goals from 88 games in Europe.
Ronaldo, who scored against Ludogorets Razgrad on
Wednesday night with Madrid, has 69 in 105 games.
With the Portuguese forward scoring 11 goals in his last six
matches, Raul's record is destined to soon be consigned to
the history books.
