Reports coming in from Maiduguri is that the suspected
members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect have abducted
young boys and girl in Maiduguri.
According to Vanguard, the sect abducted about 30 young
people, a local village chief told reporters on Sunday.
According to the local chief, Alhaji Shettima Maina, who is
in charge of the Mafa village around 50 kilometres (30
miles) east of the city of Maiduguri said:
“The insurgents… grabbed young people, boys and girls,
from our region”.
“They took all boys aged 13 and over… and all girls aged 11
and more. According to our information, 30 young people
were abducted in the last two days.”
Confirming the local village chief, Shettima Maina’s claim
was Mallam Ashiekh Mustapha who is also a village elder.
In recent times, Maiduguri has been one of the North-
Eastern states been under several attacks by the dreaded
Islamist group, Boko Haram.
The sect have continued to carry out their incessant
attacks, killing countless innocent persons, displaced
many from their homes and injured several others.
Recall recently, it was reported on Thursday, that the Boko
Haram sect kidnapped no fewer than 40 girls in Adamawa
state
.
The abduction of the over 40 girls came after it was also
reported that the Islamist group abducted about 20 women
from Garta village in Madagali Local Government Area of
Adamawa State
.
The Boko Haram sect are known for kidnapping and their
victims in recent times have been young girls, women. It
would be recalled the sect kidnapped over 200 schoolgirls
from their hostel in Chibok, Borno state.
